Notice regarding illegal downloading when uising Starlink

Dear Customers,

The use of Starlink connection on vessels has started gradually,
and the Internet usage environment has improved significantly.

However, please be noted that the high speed of the Starlink connection
has caused a new problem.

The Starlink connection monitors illegal downloads and warns users
when they use them (illegal videos, illegal music, etc.).

The Starlink Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) warns continued material use
without a license may lead to suspension or termination of the service
in the worst case situation.

In almost all cases, the Starlink connection is open and allowed for crews using.
But if crews access an illegal site via Starlink, the Starlink connection
may be down and it causes business operations to be disrupted.

This is a new risk discovered by the high speed of the Starlink connection and
it can not only Starlink, but also occur when using
VSAT, FX, and 4G/5G communications.

We are asking all companies to please exercise caution.

Countermeasures:

(1) Establish rules for legal use of the Internet in the SMS manual.
(2) Educate the above rules to crew members before boarding the vessels.
(3) Sending a circular regarding illegal downloads.

We recommend these measures.

Thanks & best regards.
