Regarding Class-NK TEC-1145

Dear Customers,

Thank you for your continued support.

Class-NK has issued Technical Information TEC-1145 on February 28th. Due to its importance in the Maritime IT, we would like to give information on this as well.

TEC1145 is a revision of TEC-1114 issued last June. With this revision, TEC-1114 becomes out of print and replaced by TEC1145.

TEC1114 is a rule on computer system cyber security onboard ships. The management and responsibility in the event of connecting each system is more clearly defined in the current revision. The provider (Vender) of each system is defined as one who is responsible for cyber security measures of each system. Furthermore, the integrator must be held responsible for unexpected emerging risks which caused by system connection.

The role of ship owner and ship management companies are to take over necessary information from the provider and integrator of each system. There is nothing particularly that should be prepared. However, the concept of “system integrator bears a certain degree of responsibility” is important within future SMS revisions (cyber security measure).

Please note this rule and we ask for your kind understanding.

Please feel free to consult us for anything related to our specific actions.

Yours sincerely,
