Notice on ORiON Plus dealing with PAYS

Dear Customers,

We would like to inform you that our ORiON Plus router has been compliant to charts update software.

PAYS (Pay as you sail) is a form of contract for charts update software. When you purchase charts by using the charts update software and there is more than one scheduled shipping route, you are required to pay for all enclosed requested coastal area. However, at PAYS you will only get charged for the actual voyage even if you request more than one chart. This can allow a cost reduction for the purchasing of charts.

In order to be eligible for PAYS, the sea route of the vessel is requested to report to the vendor at an interval of 15 minutes.

Location report function has been added to ORiON Plus which makes automated report possible this time. Please see the following vendor’s products that have already obtained PAYS application approval with the use of ORiON Plus.

We also plan to expand other vendor’s product in the future.

For vessels already equipped with ORiON Plus and vessels capable of constantly connected to satellite communications, it is possible to reduce the chart cost by applying to PAYS.
